Zoey’s Big City Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a little zebra named Zoey. She lived with her family in a cozy zoo on the edge of a bustling city. Zoey loved playing with her friends and munching on fresh, delicious grass that the zookeepers brought her every day.

One afternoon, while Zoey was having the best time chasing her pals, she didn’t even notice that she had wandered right out of the zoo. The playful little zebra had strayed much too far. She only realized it when she saw towering buildings and sparkling city lights all around her.

Zoey was scared. The city was loud, bright, and confusing. All she wanted was to run back into her parents’ arms, but she had no idea how to find her way home. She felt lost and alone.

Still, Zoey kept searching and searching, hoping she’d spot her family or at least find the zoo. But the more she searched, the more tired and hungry she became. Her tiny hooves were aching from all that walking. Just when Zoey thought she might not make it across the busy street, she saw a friendly woman with a big, warm smile. The woman noticed that Zoey was lost and frightened, so she led her to a nearby park, where she gave Zoey tasty vegetables to eat and fresh water to drink.

Feeling much better, Zoey set off once more to look for her family. Suddenly, she spotted a group of zebras in the distance and raced toward them, hoping they were her family at last. But when she got closer, Zoey realized these zebras looked strange—they were lying flat across the road, and people were just walking right over them. Disappointed, she figured out those weren’t real zebras at all—they were just crosswalk stripes!

At that very moment, a van drove by with a big sign that read “ZOO.” Zoey recognized it instantly—it was the same kind of van that always brought fresh grass to her home. She didn’t think twice—she galloped after the van, dodging cars and weaving past people, determined to keep up.

Finally, Zoey saw the familiar zoo gates. Tears filled her eyes as happiness bubbled inside her. She pranced around, singing and dancing with pure joy. People entering the zoo watched in amazement, and some even joined Zoey in her happy dance.

When Zoey went back inside the zoo, she found her mom and dad waiting—they had been searching for her all this time. The family hugged and cuddled, grateful to be together again. Of course, Zoey’s parents wanted to know where she’d been. She told them all about her adventure in the big city, the kind woman in the park, and even the funny zebra crosswalks. Her family listened, amazed and proud of how brave Zoey had been.

From her adventure, Zoey learned that even though the world can feel big and scary, there are always kind people ready to lend a helping hand.
