Not so long ago, in a cozy house in our village, a little girl was born. But she wasn’t just any girl—she was tiny, hardly bigger than an apple from the tree in their yard. The years slipped by like water, but she never grew any taller. Everyone called her Tiny.
Tiny’s life wasn’t easy, but her loving parents protected her with all their hearts. She felt safe at home, where nothing could harm her. Going outside was risky—what if a cat mistook her for a mouse? Or what if a cow, whose fresh milk she loved each morning, accidentally stepped on her?
One day, curiosity took over, and Tiny decided to go on an adventure. She meant to go only a little way past the backyard gate, so she didn’t tell her parents. But as soon as she stepped outside, a fierce wind whipped up! Tiny grabbed the fence as hard as she could, but the wind was much too strong. Up and away it carried her—far, far away—until she landed in a deep, dark forest.
Scared but brave, Tiny knew she needed shelter fast. Luckily for her, after a short while, she found a hole in the ground that was just her size. At the end of that dark tunnel, she spotted a faint light. “Maybe there’s a warm fire I can sit by,” she thought. Following the glow, she came upon someone lying on the ground—it was a forest fairy, just as tiny as she was!

Tiny’s fear melted away. She hurried over and saw that the fairy was hurt.
“Can I help you?” Tiny asked gently.
“I need special leaves from the red bush under the oldest oak tree in this forest. The trouble is, it’s very far away, and the journey is dangerous for someone your size,” the fairy replied.
“I’ll go for you,” said Tiny with determination. “Just tell me where to find that tree!”
The fairy smiled weakly and whispered, “The oldest oak is the tallest tree in the woods. To find it, you’ll have to get above the treetops.”
“But I can’t fly like you,” Tiny protested.
“I believe you’ll find a way,” whispered the fairy, then drifted off to sleep.
Without wasting a moment, Tiny scrambled out into the dark forest, searching for a way up. She tried to climb a tree, but the damp bark was so slippery that she slid right down. She flapped her arms like a bird, but, of course, didn’t move an inch. She even tried jumping—but that didn’t work either. Just then, a little bird landed nearby.
“Oh, how I wish I could fly, just like you!” Tiny sighed.
“And why would you want that?” chirped the bird, to Tiny’s surprise.
Tiny quickly explained that a fairy was injured and needed magical leaves from the ancient oak.
“Hop on my back,” said the little bird. “We’ll soar above the forest together and spot the tree!”

So Tiny climbed onto the bird’s back, and up they soared, bathed in the light of the rising sun. From above, they easily spotted the tallest tree. They flew to the red bush beneath its grand branches. Tiny slid down and hurried to pick the leaves.
“What are you doing?” came a fearsome voice behind her.
Tiny froze. She turned around and found herself staring up at a huge wolf.
“That’s my bush!” growled the wolf, louder than before.
“I’m sorry, Wolf. I need these leaves to help a forest fairy heal,” said Tiny bravely.
“A forest fairy?” The wolf blinked in surprise; his voice was gentle now.
Tiny told the wolf the whole story. As it turned out, the fairy had once helped the wolf, and now it was his turn to return the favor. Together, they picked a few more leaves, then the wolf scooped Tiny onto his back and raced to the fairy’s hiding place. Tiny hurried inside and gently pressed the healing leaves to the wound. Instantly, the fairy was healed—almost like magic!

“Thank you, Tiny! With your courage, you saved my life,” the fairy said, eyes shining.
“Now I’d like to help you. Do you have a wish I could grant?” the fairy asked.
Tiny didn’t hesitate. “I just want to go home to my parents—but I don’t know how.”
“Take this cloak,” said the fairy, giving her a tiny, sparkling cape. “It’s not just any cloak. When you put it on and wish to be somewhere, it will whisk you there in a heartbeat!”
Tiny thanked the fairy with all her heart, said goodbye to the wolf and the bird, and slipped on the magical cloak. No sooner had she wished to be home than—whoosh!—she was back with her surprised parents! She quickly told them all about her fantastic adventure. Her parents hugged her tightly and promised to keep a close eye on their precious daughter from now on.
But Tiny wasn’t afraid anymore. Thanks to her magical cloak, she could always stay safe and go wherever she wished. She went on many adventures from then on, but her favorite journeys were to visit her new friend—the forest fairy.
