Kids, imagine a far‑off future where the world is very different from today. In that world, robots outnumber people. Humans built robots to help them and taught them to do almost everything we do. But robots were “just machines” that could think without feelings. Or… were they?

In a city called Technopolis lived a robot named Robin. The city was huge—full of lights, giant screens, and tall skyscrapers—yet it also had dark corners and dangerous streets. Technopolis shone with amazing technology, but there was crime and unfairness, too. Amid those contrasts, Robin’s job was to keep one of the city’s longest streets clean. All day he rolled along, picking up whatever people tossed away; there was always more to do.

Robin wasn’t an ordinary robot. He was built from the newest, toughest metal, so he could work in any weather. A powerful AI processor helped him learn and adapt to new situations. His eyes could see in the darkest night, and his sensors could detect even the softest sounds—like the tiniest wrapper falling to the ground.

One night, while checking the last bits of litter, Robin’s sensors picked up a strange cry. Someone was calling for help. He hurried toward the sound and found a group of criminals surrounding a young woman, intent on robbing her. Without a second’s delay, Robin leapt into action. With amazing speed and precision, he disarmed the thieves with the litter‑picker he carried, tied them with a nearby rope, and guarded them until the police arrived. Citizens—and even the local officers—thanked him and admired him.

Robin returned to his street to keep caring for the city, but now his days felt different. People recognized him, waved, and stopped to talk. Many wanted a photo with the robot hero, and, strange as it was, Robin liked it. He felt glad that people appreciated him, and he decided he would help them whenever they needed him.

He didn’t have to wait long. One morning, some kids on their way to school asked for a photo. Robin happily posed and reminded them to use the crosswalk. Just seconds later, he heard a terrible sound. He turned and saw a bus racing out of control down the hill—straight toward the children in the road.

Robin acted at once. In a blur, he reached the kids and whisked them to the far curb at the very last moment. WHOOSH! The bus thundered by. Robin noticed it was full of passengers, and its driver had lost control. His quick scan showed the brakes had failed, and the bus was still rolling downhill.

Robin sprinted after it, grabbed its rear bumper with his hydraulic arms, and dug in his metal feet. Bits of asphalt flew as he braked with all his strength. Then—silence. Robin had done it. The bus shuddered to a stop.

People crowded around their rescuer with thanks, praise, and wide‑eyed awe. If he could have blushed, he would have—but robots don’t blush.

Each adventure convinced Robin that, even as a robot, he had a heart set on protecting and serving the people of Technopolis. The citizens realized that true heroism—whether human or robot—means standing up for what’s right and protecting those who need it most.

The mayor of Technopolis awarded Robin a medal and asked him to keep order in the city. The mayor didn’t mean just picking up trash—he meant guarding people from those who would harm them. Robin’s mission was to help everyone feel safer than before. It was the work he’d always wished for, and Robin felt happy. Yes—this robot truly felt happiness.
