In a sunlit garden where all kinds of fruits and vegetables grew, there lived a tiny strawberry with a sweet red head and a green cap. She was a happy little strawberry, enjoying the colorful butterflies and buzzing bees every day. But lately, something unusual had been troubling her. All the garden’s residents were sad and tired. The sun was burning hotter and hotter. Not a single cloud appeared in the sky, and the garden was in danger of withering away.
The garden was vast, with living ivy hedges around the edges. In the center, there was a flower bed with colorful roses and tulips. Nearby, apple and pear trees grew, heavy with fruit. Under the trees grew carrots and lettuce, but their leaves were already losing their fresh green color. Every day, the garden grew quieter. Birds flew off, searching for water elsewhere, and even the frogs, who usually frolicked by the little pond, croaked sadly as their water was disappearing.
Little Strawberry watched as her friends wilted. She saw a carrot bow her head toward the earth in sadness. The apple tree, which always shared its fragrant fruit in summer, now stood joyless. The strawberry decided she couldn’t let things go on this way. Though she was tiny, she had a big heart full of courage.
One morning, just as the sun rose above the horizon, the strawberry set out into the garden. “I have to help somehow,” she thought. First, she went to the old well, which was almost dry. At the bottom, she glimpsed a little drop of water, quietly shimmering. “Please help us!” the strawberry said to the drop. “Everything’s drying up and we’re all very sad.”
The drop answered softly, “I am the last drop of water in the well. If I leave, the well will be completely dry. I don’t know how I can help you.”
The strawberry lowered her head in sadness, but she didn’t give up. She thought that if she could carry the drop and show it to the other garden residents, maybe something magical would happen. So she gently pressed her green leaves against the edge of the well, and the drop slowly rolled right into the little hollow between her leaves.
Carefully, the strawberry went to the old apple tree. The sun was already getting hotter, and the little bit of water on her leaves almost vanished along the way. But there was just enough to take to the flowers, the vegetables, and finally a young basil plant. She showed a little bit of living water to every plant. Everyone was happy at first, but then they became sad again when they saw that it was just a tiny drop. “We need whole clouds to bring rain!” they told each other.
But the strawberry smiled. “Maybe this little miracle can call more drops.” She placed the drop on the leaf of a thirsty tulip. You can’t imagine what happened next. The tulip lit up, as if illuminated by silver moonlight. Suddenly, it moved its petals and reached for the water.
Grateful to the strawberry and the single drop of water, the tulip decided to call all its flower friends. All the plants joined in, raising their leaves and dancing gently in the breeze, as if singing a song for rain. Suddenly, the garden came alive again. It was as if their singing and dancing were heard by mighty clouds, because dark, heavy clouds began to gather in the sky. The air smelled of moisture, and the first precious drops of rain fell onto the dry soil.
The greenery came back to life, the trees straightened up, the carrots breathed a sigh of relief, and the birds regained their strength. From the clouds, a heavy rain fell, filling all ponds and wells to the brim. The strawberry stood in the center of the garden, a little soaked but very happy. All the garden’s residents surrounded her and danced together with her to the gentle melody of the rain.
And so it happened that one little strawberry, who believed in the power of even the tiniest drop of water, managed to save the whole garden from drought. Though she looked small, she showed great heroism thanks to her good heart and perseverance, saving the lives of all the plants and animals.
