How the Little Houses Found a New Home

A whimsical tale of resilience: three tiny houses stack, float, and climb together to find safety—and celebrate a new beginning under the high mountain.

In a tiny village nestled among green trees and cheerful flowers, there lived houses as colorful as the rainbow itself. These houses smiled at the sun, sang along with the wind, and greeted their neighbors every morning.

The first house was as blue as the sky, with wide windows and an even wider smile. It had a small garden where its owners grew flowers to bring joy to others. Across from it stood a beautiful green house, always full of energy and clever ideas. In its garden, herbs and vegetables flourished, useful to all the neighbors. The third house was red and always open to guests. Its residents were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help and listen to others’ stories.

Though each house was different, together they formed a close-knit community. They served their neighbors, supported one another, and their village overflowed with joy, love, and friendship.

One spring morning, as the sun peeked through the branches and birdsong filled the air, something unusual happened. The cheerful village awoke to a loud rumbling. The earth began to shake. Blossoms withered in their garden beds, and trees that once sheltered the houses fell to the ground. Day after day, the earth trembled beneath the houses, and the sky grew darker with clouds.

All the houses gathered to discuss what was happening. The usually happy blue house was frowning now.

“What’s happening to our beloved village?” he asked sadly.

“I don’t think we can stay here anymore,” added the green house, his roof littered with fallen branches.

All the others agreed. Their village, where they had lived for so long, was no longer safe. It was time to search for a new home. So they decided to leave their village behind and set off on a journey into the unknown to find a new place to live. It was the beginning of an adventure that would change their lives.

Their hearts beat faster as they left the only village they had ever known. They felt a mix of curiosity and sadness, leaving behind a place where they had shared so much happiness.

“Where will we go?” asked the blue house, his eyes full of worry.

“Let’s look for somewhere warm and cozy, where we’ll be happy,” suggested the green house.

The houses didn’t know which way to go, but they sensed the journey would be tough. Their village was surrounded by deep forests, cold rivers, and rocky mountains. They set off through the thick woods, where trees whispered old stories and birds sang soft, sad melodies. The forest was tangled with paths; the houses wandered for a long time and couldn’t find their way out. Then they decided to help one another: they stacked themselves one atop another so the third house could see over the treetops. Thanks to this teamwork, they could see which direction to go. That’s when they realized the power of working together.

They finally escaped the forest. Right away, they faced a roaring river. The blue house was terribly afraid of water. With his friends’ support, though, he found the courage to cross, and together they managed to float across the river.

Their adventure wasn’t over yet. On the other side, they found a huge, rocky mountain so long that they couldn’t go around it. Up was the only way. The green house, always full of ideas, piped up:

“Let’s gather the thick branches the river washed up and hammer them into the rock. We’ll make a ladder to climb to the top!”

“What a great idea! Let’s do it!” his friends agreed.

The houses worked together, collecting all the thick branches they could find and hammering them into the mountain. It was hard, slow work, but thanks to their teamwork, they reached the mountaintop before sunset.

On the far side, they discovered a beautiful meadow filled with peace and joy. The setting sun peeked from behind the treetops and smiled down at the flowers dancing in the breeze.

“This place is wonderful!” exclaimed one house.

“It’s beautiful and peaceful. I feel at home,” said another, with a happy grin.

The very next day, they all worked together to build their new homes. Soon, the bright faces of the little houses beamed with joy as a brand-new village took shape in the meadow beneath the high mountain. When night came and the sun dipped behind the hills, the houses gathered for a big celebration—lighting their lamps, singing songs, and hugging one another. This was the place where their dream of a new beginning truly came true.
